Frequently asked questions.

Answers on quotations, artwork and proofing, production and lead times, and how enquiries work.

Getting a quotation

What information do I need to request a print quotation?

The more detail you can provide, the easier it is to assess your project. Ideally, include the product type, finished size, quantity, page count where relevant, paper or material preferences, printing requirements, binding or finishing, and delivery destination. If you do not know every specification, tell us what you have in mind and we can help identify the details that need to be confirmed.

How is the price of a print job calculated?

Pricing depends on several factors, including quantity, size, paper or material, printing method, colour requirements, binding, finishing, packing and delivery. Tooling, special finishes and artwork preparation may also affect the cost. We assess the complete specification before preparing a quotation. We can also guide you and recommend various options.

Can I request prices for different quantities?

Yes. If you are considering more than one quantity, include each option in your enquiry. Comparing quantities can help you understand how production setup and unit costs affect the overall budget.

Can you help if I am unsure about paper or finishing?

Yes. Tell us the purpose of the print, the result you want, whether that means a lightweight publication, a substantial cover, a particular texture or a premium finish. Samples, reference photographs or an existing product can help communicate your preferences. Final choices depend on the product, specification and available production options.

Artwork and proofing

Do I need print-ready artwork before requesting a quotation?

No. You can begin with an outline of the project and the information you already have. If your artwork is not ready, let us know its current status. We can discuss the specifications first and confirm what files are required before production.

What file format should I supply?

Print-ready PDF is commonly used for commercial printing, but the correct format and settings depend on the job and production workflow. Please confirm requirements such as colour profile, image resolution, bleed, fonts and any separate finishing artwork before submitting final files.

Can you check or fix my artwork?

Prepress and artwork preparation can be discussed as part of your project. Tell us whether you need file checking, corrections or help preparing artwork for production. The scope of work will depend on the files and the changes required.

Will I receive a proof before printing?

Proofing requirements should be agreed for each project. Depending on the job, this may involve checking a digital proof, reviewing a physical sample or discussing additional colour or finishing checks. Confirm what will be supplied and what needs approval before production begins.

Why can printed colours look different from what I see on screen?

Screens use light to display colour, while printed colour is produced using inks or other printing processes on a particular material. Screen settings, colour profiles, paper choice and finishing can all influence the result. If colour consistency is important, identify critical colours early and discuss suitable proofing arrangements.

Can I change the artwork after approving a proof?

Changes may still be possible, but their feasibility, cost and effect on the schedule depend on how far production has progressed. Contact us immediately if you need to make a change. Any revised costs, proofing requirements or timing should be confirmed before the change proceeds.

Production and lead times

How long does printing take?

There is no single lead time that applies to every project. Timing depends on quantity, artwork readiness, materials, printing method, binding, finishing, proof approval and delivery arrangements. We will need to review your specifications before confirming a project schedule.

Can you handle large-volume print orders?

Print Plus works across commercial printing requirements, including substantial print runs. The appropriate production route depends on the product, quantity, specifications and schedule. Share your requirements so we can assess the project.

Can you produce specialised books or print products?

We work across commercial and specialised print projects, including books and publications, catalogues, marketing materials, packaging and other custom print products. Availability of particular materials, bindings and finishes must be confirmed against the individual specification.

Can you arrange packaging and shipping outside Hong Kong?

Print Plus coordinates export packaging and shipping for projects serving clients worldwide. Arrangements depend on the destination, order size, packaging requirements and agreed delivery terms. Include the destination and required delivery date in your enquiry so these can be assessed alongside production.

Can you deliver to multiple locations?

Please specify the number of delivery locations, quantities for each destination and any special packing or labelling requirements when requesting a quotation. The available arrangements and any additional costs will need to be confirmed for your project.

Orders and communication

What happens after I submit an enquiry?

We review the information provided and identify any outstanding details needed to assess the project. Depending on the brief, we may need to clarify specifications, discuss materials or finishing, or confirm delivery requirements before a quotation can be prepared.

Do I need to know all the technical specifications before contacting you?

No. A clear description of what you want to produce, the approximate quantity and where it needs to go is a useful starting point. Share what is confirmed and flag anything that remains undecided.
